Christmas Layouts, Yay or Nay?

I've said it before, I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas layouts. They just never come out quite as good as they look in my head. It could also be that the photo's are so precious to me that I have a hard time creating anything that I deem suitable for them. Then there's all that color...UGH!
So much pressure, what's a girl to do?

I decided to tackle this fear of the dreaded "Christmas Layout", and I started with a sketch.
I headed over to Scrapbook Generation and downloaded their December 2012 sketch, gathered some VERY colorful Christmas products and just had fun.
In the end, I had a Christmas morning layout that finally met my expectations.

Supplies: Bazzill Cardstock -  Patterned Paper: K & Co .-  Letter Stickers: American Crafts, ColorBok -  Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Color Box
Paper Embellishments: Echo Park, WRMK, Elle's Studio - Flair Badge: WRMK - Enamel Dots: MME - Rhinestones: Reflections - Stamps & Twine: Unknown.

Not only am I happy with out come, I also used a good amount of older supplies,
and that is always a good thing!
So, am I the only one...do you have a hard time creating Christmas pages?

Enjoy your day, stay warm, and thanks for stopping by!

I Love A Challenge-

Over the weekend I participated in a fun, online crop hosted by a message boards that I belong to.There were a ton of great challenges to get you thinking "outside" of the box.
One of my favorites, was the Recipe Challenge. (Thanks, Ann :) The challenging part was to use just
5 pre-selected  "ingredients" on your layout.
Those 5 items were:
 a journaling card
  cork embellishment
patterned paper
enamel dots
flags
This is how my layout came out...

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Echo Park, Letter Stickers: American Crafts, Echo Park,
Enamel Dots: My Minds Eye,Cork Embellishments: Studio Calico, ( just a little twine)
and of course, a Scrapbook Generation Sketch.
Special Thanks to Feleasha Rega for taking these amazing photos!

It was really fun to work within the limits of those 5 items, and I really like how the layout turned out. So give it a try...limit your supplies, and see what you end up with. You might just love it!

Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

CREATE is LIVE!

Scrapbook Generation's CREATE, a free monthly digital magazine, goes live today! With over 200 pages of papercrafting goodness, the inaugural issue is packed with information and inspiration from talented scrapbookers and cardmakers.

The magazine focuses on sketches -- providing four free layout, card, and tag sketches designed by Allison Davis and Debbie Sanders each month -- but there is so much more!

CREATE features a different manufacturer's design team every month. For January, the Fancy Pants design team has created 34 layouts, cards, and tags using the SG sketches.

Allison Davis and her sketch expertise will show up in a variety of articles. You'll get a close-up, detailed look at her creative process, and her ability to make simple, yet totally theme-specific handmade embellishments.

CREATE magazine has its own talented design team that is featured in three segments: a color challenge, a sketch challenge, and an optional project challenge.

The magazine also includes other inspirational articles and features related to scrapbooking, cardmaking, and papercrafting, including a monthly technique tutorial by Tammy Tutterow.

Head over to Scrapbook Generation's newly expanded online store and check out the first issue of CREATE. It's free, and it's fabulous!

Back to our regularly scheduled Scrapbooking!

Hello! I hope everyone had a very Happy New Year!
Now that the tree is down and most of the decorations are packed away until next year, lets get back to creating some pages shall we...

Am I the only one who has a hard time scrapping pictures from the Christmas holidays? It just seems like I can never do them justice. So instead of scrapping those recent photos, and being frustrated with the process, I chose a few of my favorite fall photos.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Simple Stories, Card stock: Bazzill, Letter Stickers: Simple Stories, Jillibean Soup, Basic Grey,
Labels and Stickers: October Afternoon, Simple Stories, Echo Park, Brad and Enamel Dot: My Minds Eye

This was a really fun page to do and it got me back into the swing of things, now maybe I can get started on those Christmas photos...or at least catch up on my Project Life album.

Have a great day and thanks again for stopping by!
